# Automatic onboarding

Give people courses when they join, get a role or are added to Crew. Needs Nøyra Premium.

Under **Onboarding**, a rule gives people courses automatically, with deadlines from that day. This needs [Nøyra Premium](/aptio/premium).

## Making a rule

Choose a name, the courses, an optional due date, and when it applies:

- **Joins the server**
- **Gets** a Discord role you choose
- **Is added to Crew**, if you [use both](/crew/aptio-connection)

Each rule only acts once per person. People already in the server or holding the role when you make it don't get the courses.

## When it acts

Aptio checks your server's members once a day, so joining or getting a role can take up to a day to count. This needs Discord's **Server Members** setting on the bot: without it, rules only reach people who have opened Aptio. People added to Crew get their courses straight away.

If Premium ends, rules stop acting. People keep the courses they already have.
