# Roles and access

Who can do what.

Your Discord roles decide what you can do in Aptio, and they're checked every time you do something. Change someone's role in Discord, and their access follows.

<table><thead><tr><th scope="col">Access</th><th scope="col">Who</th><th scope="col">Can</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><th scope="row">View only</th><td>Guests and people who aren't members</td><td>Open a shared link</td></tr><tr><th scope="row">Member</th><td>Everyone in the server</td><td>Take courses, and see their own progress and certificates</td></tr><tr><th scope="row">Manager</th><td>Discord roles you choose</td><td>Build, assign and share courses, and see team progress</td></tr><tr><th scope="row">Super User</th><td>The server owner, plus Discord's Administrator permission until you choose a Super User role, plus that role</td><td>Everything, including settings</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Who counts as a Manager

If your organization uses Crew, access follows it: line managers see their own teams, and Super Users see everything. Without Crew, choose a Discord role, and everyone with it is a Manager. Aptio, Crew, Docket and Sensa use the same four levels: Super User, Manager, Member and View only. Settings for the organization, including who can manage, are for Super Users.
