Create a ticket type
Every ticket belongs to a type. Types define the staff role that manages them, the channels where they can be opened, and the number format used for their IDs.
- Run
/ticket-type createin any channel - Fill in the name, description, and number format in the modal that appears
- Select the staff role that will manage tickets of this type
- Select one or more channels where the ticket panel will be available
Tip: The staff role you select receives a ping when a new ticket is created and gains access to manage the thread. Make sure the role already exists in your server — Docket does not create roles for you.
Tip: You can run
/ticket-type listat any time to see all configured types, and/ticket-type deleteto remove one.
Set a notification channel
Configure where Docket posts a ping embed when a new ticket is created. This is typically a staff-only channel your team actively monitors.
- Run
/ticket-config set-notification-channel - Select the channel from the picker
To check which channel is set: /ticket-config view-notification-channel
To disable notifications: /ticket-config clear-notification-channel
Set a default number format (optional)
Ticket IDs are generated from a format template. Each ticket type can have its own format; this command sets the guild-wide fallback used when a type has none.
- Run
/ticket-config set-format - Enter your format string — e.g.
NOY-{number:04d}
Tip: If you skip this step, the global fallback
{number}is used, producing IDs like 1, 2, 3. See the Number formats page for all options.
Post the ticket panel
The ticket panel is a message with a Create Ticket button. Members click it to open a ticket without needing to know any commands.
- Run
/ticket-setupin your support channel - Docket posts the panel immediately
- Pin the message so members can always find it
Warning: Docket must have Send Messages permission in the channel where you run the command. If the bot lacks permission the panel will fail to post.
Validate with a test ticket
Open a test ticket as a non-admin member and verify each step:
- The type select menu appears and the reason modal opens
- A private thread is created with a ticket status embed and management buttons
- The notification channel receives a ping with the staff role
- A staff member can click Join Ticket to enter the thread
- Closing the ticket generates a transcript link and archives the thread
Warning: Delete or close the test ticket once you've confirmed everything works — ticket numbers increment globally and cannot be reset.
Troubleshooting
- Bot can't create threads — Ensure Docket has the Manage Threads permission in your server
- No notification posted — Run
/ticket-config view-notification-channeland confirm a channel is set - Staff can't join ticket — Check that the correct role was selected during
/ticket-type create - Commands not appearing — Docket may still be registering commands; wait a minute and reload Discord
